Week Five:
Once this week is up, you'll have completed just five small tasks, but your house will be cleaner and more organized; just like that! Magical really.
For "Week FIVE" we are going to focus on something almost everyone hates. The laundry. I don't know any magical ways to make the laundry pile disappear, I just try to make the task simpler and therefore, hopefully, easier. We've been so busy in this house with renovations recently (hence the reason I haven't been able to complete last week's challenge yet, washroom=
First, you'll need to gather all the dirty laundry into one area (preferably in your laundry room or an area close by). Don't forget to gather dirty sheets, clothes, cleaning rags, towels, dog bedding, etc.
Second, sort laundry into type (in the case of dog bedding, towels, sheets, etc. - you don't want your clothes to be coour vered with pilling (those little ball things that get stuck to your clothes) and colour. My laundry piles consist of: whites, darks, colours, towels/facecloths, cleaning rags, sheets and dog bedding/towels. I sort my clothes on the floor (I find it easier and makes me want to get the laundry done faster so I don't have to step over piles). While I'm sorting, I zip zippers, button buttons, check pockets and turn clothes inside out or outside out as required.
Third, launder laundry - one load a day. My process is typically this (for a weekday):
Morning - wash:
You can tackle this task any way you choose, however I find it is easier to break it down into four small and simple steps:
Good luck, you can do it!
Note: To keep on top of the laundry in the future, figure out approximately how many loads each week on average you need to do (to have no dirty laundry) and divide the loads throughout the week (e.g. you need to do 4 loads to keep caught up, so do one load for four days, or 2 loads for 2 days, etc.). As always, do what works best for you, and if you're not yet sure what that is, keep trying different things!
war zone) that we have a small mountain of laundry that needs to get washed! So this week, our goal will be to do ONE load of laundry a day (or more if you want to) until your laundry pile disappears (or is reduced).First, you'll need to gather all the dirty laundry into one area (preferably in your laundry room or an area close by). Don't forget to gather dirty sheets, clothes, cleaning rags, towels, dog bedding, etc.

Third, launder laundry - one load a day. My process is typically this (for a weekday):
Morning - wash:
- Add vinegar to fabric softener dispenser to line.
- Add detergent to bottom of drum.
- Start machine until machine is about 1/8 full.
- Add one load's worth of laundry to machine.
- Take laundry out of machine and hang on lines to dry (I have an indoor clothesline I use).
- Take down from line any dry clothes, put in laundry basket and bring upstairs.
- Fold previous day's load of clothes.
- Put folded clothes away.

- wash
- dry
- fold
- put away.
Good luck, you can do it!
