If you're wondering why the list is a bit short this week, you might want to read my "Lack of Weekly Sales Lists but a CSA!" post.
Most of the produce on my list this week have great prices (with the exception of the cauliflower - it's a decent price, but nothing spectacular). Cherries are on sale for $1.88/lb which is an amazing price. Anything under $2.00/lb is good for cherries during cherry season! If you're an applesauce purchaser, you'll be very interested in the applesauce that's on sale. I buy some sometimes for the Healthy Snack Fund (only the kind that doesn't have any type of added sugars, just fruit) usually for around $1.77 for 6 individual containers - so this is a great sale.
Recipe/Meal Ideas for this week's "sales":
- Cherry recipes (allrecipes.com)
- Cherry pie, crisp, turnovers, etc.
- Creamy dill cucumber salad/soup
- Replace sour cream with plain yogourt or use vanilla yogourt for a fruit dip
- 3-Step Soup made with cauliflower!
- Strawberry rhubarb crisp, pie, etc.
- Blueberry sauce or strawberry sauce (I omit the sugar) (allrecipes.com)
- Berry muffins, breads, crisps, etc.
- Strawberries and cream
- Freeze the fruit and make smoothies!
- Crackers and cheese
- Watermelon salad (with feta and basil)
Also, I'd be remiss if I forgot to mention this week's 'Top 3' items needed most at the North Bay Food Bank (copied from their Facebook Post):
- Jarred baby food
- Canned pasta (ravioli and alphagetti)
- Granola bars
So while you're out shopping this week, purchase an extra item to put in the Food Bank donation bins located at the exits of most grocery stores and help out someone in need!
Happy Saving!
